Hundreds lose power as snow moves into Quad Cities

Hundreds of MidAmerican Energy customers lost power in East Moline just as heavy snowfall moved into the area.

The power outage was reported just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013.

Residents reported what they thought was a transformer blow in East Moline.

MidAmerican Energy reported 856 East Moline customers without power at 11:30 a.m.  Another 250 customers were without electricity in Rock Island County and Hampton combined.

Fewer than 250 total outages remained by about 2 p.m.  Fifty were in East Moline, about 70 in Milan and just over 100 in Rock Island County.

All of the outages were restored before 5 p.m.
